“Suicides are preventable, and numerous interventions from the individual to the societal level can help reduce the suicide rate” (Jacobsen, 2019). One thing to help depression is to have access to clinical mental health care. It is a great opportunity for people to be able to talk through their thoughts and feelings with someone who is willing to listen and someone who is able to help. Another thing would be community-based support like hotlines. Those who are having immediate thoughts or need someone immediately to talk to can call a hotline and talk through what they are feeling. There is also medicine and sometimes, if it is extreme, hospital stays to help with mental health issues. "It is crucial to address the needs of adolescents with mental health conditions" (CDC, 2021).

Adolescent Mortality (Depression & Suicide)
There are several health issues that contribute to adolescent mortality each year. “Over 1.5 million adolescents and young adults aged 10-24 years died in 2020, nearly 5000 every day” (CDC 2022). One of those health issues is mental health, with suicide being the second leading cause of death in older adolescents. A leading mental health issue that people suffer from is depression while “suicide is the intentional act of ending one’s own life” (Jacobsen, 2019). Mental health conditions are 16% burden of diseases in the world for adolescents. There are many factors that can have an impact on mental health. Some examples are bullying, violence, and poverty.
